That is why the Algarve Summer Camp (ASC) team is built on a foundation of professional expertise and unwavering safety standards. Our staff consists of certified surf instructors, experienced outdoor educators, and creative mentors who are all trained in first aid and child safety protocols ⛑️. We don’t just watch from the sidelines; we are in the water and on the trails with them, ensuring every activity is as secure as it is exciting. 🌊
But being an expert also means knowing how to spark joy! 💫 Our team members are „Experts in Fun,“ masters at turning a simple beach day into a journey of discovery. My history
I grew up in a small village next to a small city in Germany. I did what my parents wanted me to do up to my teenage years. In early adulthood I discovered that I’m my own personality and that I can change the world. So I did, moved abroad to the US, Iceland and Austria, founded companies and eventually found the love of my life and we have a beautiful family togehter. My history tells me that I’m not responsible for the way the world is – but I am responsible if it just stays the same. So let’s change it togehter.
My present
I’m a middle aged man from Germany and I see myself as a citizen and a servant to the world. The wellbeing of my family and the ones around me is central to my actions and that’s why I’m engaged in the summer camp. My kids participate here as well and it is my pleasure to take the kids into the Wilderness of Algarve to learn about this place and themselves.
Why I’m a Mentor at Algarve Summer Camp
Because I believe that every moment is precious. And I want to make every moment precious for my kids and the ones I’m mentoring. And when I’m out and about, when I’m wood-carving, bow-shooting or just breathing underneath an old oak tree that’s when I’m feeling totally alive. And that’s what I want to transport to the kids. Let’s experience ourselves, when we experience nature. That’s why I’m on this beautiful earth.

Growing up in a small village in southern Germany, nature was always more than just a backdrop to me. It was a companion.
Later, my world shifted.
Beliefs and external conditions led me to start functioning instead of truly living.
I was part of the system, delivered results, understood structures, and carried responsibility.
And at the same time, I felt something was missing.
Not knowledge. Not ability.
But connection.
To my body, to my truth, to my authentic expression.
My present
Today, I live differently.
After four years of full time travel, I have found a home with my family on the Machada in the Algarve.
In nature. Raw, honest, direct, and connected.
I work as a trauma informed somatic coach with people, not on them.
I see what lies beneath behavior.
I sense what a system needs to feel safe enough to be real.
And this is what I bring into the summercamp & the worldschool:
No rigid concept.
But presence, clarity, and a space where real development can happen.
Why I’m a Mentor at Algarve Summer Camp
I believe children do not need to be shaped or optimized to find their way.
From my Point of view: they need people who can truly see them, hold them, and not get lost in outdated roles.
I am here to embody exactly that.
To hold spaces where connection becomes tangible again
to oneself, to others, to nature.
Because connection is not an extra.
It is a basic human need.
And much of what surrounds us pulls us away from it.
I offer orientation without controlling,
and hold boundaries that allow connection to exist.
And I show children, and also the team:
You can stay with yourself
and still be in real connection.

I was born in Berlin and grew up in a small village in NRW. All my life I felt responsible for my family. This lived very deeply in me until I became a mother at 28.
Becoming a mother opened something in me. I started to feel my power and to follow my intuition. I always felt that there is more, and I always knew that children are born fully connected with themselves and their needs.
So my journey began with my kids. Through them I started to see myself. I see myself in the way I see them. And I began to feel the power of intuition again.
My intuition led me to leave Germany and explore the world. It brought me to Portugal.
My present is feeling and empathy.
It is very easy for me to feel the needs of kids, because I am deeply connected to my inner child. I clearly know what little Johanna needed to grow up feeling her power.
Why I’m a Mentor at Algarve Summer Camp
I am a mentor because I truly believe in the power of your kids.
I know that they are connected to their needs. And I know that growth happens when they feel safe.
So my intention is to create a space where your kids can feel safe, explore their power, and discover what truly interests them.
A space where they can stay playful. Stay curious. Stay themselves.
Because I deeply believe: this is how learning and growing happens
