At the Algarve Summer Camp, we believe in the natural power of mixed-age communities, where boundaries between age groups dissolve in favor of organic social growth. 🌿 (Learn more on the age groups site)
Instead of rigid separation, our camp operates as one vibrant tribe. We provide a rich environment where children and teenagers interact freely, allowing for a „horizontal“ transfer of knowledge that only happens when different ages meet. 🤝
While we all start as one, the groups naturally separate based on interest, energy, and self-chosen challenges. A 6-year-old might be inspired to join the „Coastal Pioneers“ during a photography workshop, while a teenager might find joy in helping the „Little Explorers“ build a massive sand fortress. 🏰
This self-directed separation fosters true independence and empathy. Following the principles of Gerald Hüther and André Stern, we trust that children know what they need for their own development. By removing the walls between ages, we create a miniature society where leadership, care, and enthusiasm flourish without external pressure. ✨
